Are you interested in language and rhetoric? Do you want to help plan new and interesting events for people with many interests, from many fields? The Language and Rhetorical Studies Group (LangRhet) is seeking new members for our Steering Committee starting this summer. We hope you’ll consider joining us!
LangRhet is long-running Rackham Interdisciplinary Workshop that sponsors a variety of events throughout the year focused language, rhetoric, and pedagogy — check out our website for details! Our recent events have included a book talk with Prof. Melanie Yergeau, dissertation chapters workshops, and a graduate student conference including keynotes from guest speakers Prof. Sami Schalk and Prof. Amy Vidali. We frequently host discussion panels, invite scholars to campus, and facilitate workshops on a range of topics suggested by our community and Steering Committee.
Members of the 4-6 person Steering Committee get first-hand experience planning and collaborating with a dynamic graduate student team and have opportunities to work with faculty sponsors like Professor Anne Curzan and Professor David Gold. Additionally, members are also entitled to a small stipend(!).
